Bastille Day Celebration July 14th, 2006
Dear Friends & Customers; It’s that time of year again and we had so much fun last year. So, come celebrate the “French Independence Day” at Nicole’s Gourmet Foods on Friday, le 14th of July. OUI will have live French music played by acclaimed accordionist “Norm Panto”. OUI will be Barbequing Spicy Merguez sausages on the Patio, and serving great beers & wines. OUI will be having fun from 12 to 5:30pm! Bring your appetite, your thirst, and your Beret if you want!

So What is Bastille Day ?
Bastille Day is celebrated annually on July 14. The Bastille was a prison in Paris. For the peasant class, the Bastille stood as a symbol of the hypocrisy and corruption of the aristocratic government - controlled mostly by nobility and clergy. In 1789, the people stormed and seized the Bastille starting the French Revolution that toppled King Louis XVI and the aristocracy. This important event marked the entry of the popular class into the French Revolution. As a historical symbol of revolt against injustice, Bastille Day is being commemorated world-wide, and we are doing our part right here in South Pasadena.

Tastings Come on in every Thursday & Saturday and join us for our complimentary cheese tasting. Every week, Nicole will put together a new selection of cheese for all to try. You'll also almost always find samplings of various pâtés, salamis, breads and other goodies out for your enjoyment as well. Of course, the experience wouldn't be complete if you could not sample from our vast selection of Oils & Vinegars from around the world. So we always have dozens of bottles available for sampling at our tasting bar.
Guest Chef Demonstrations We are currently trying to organize a Guest Chef demonstration event. Basically, we will invite some of our Chef friends from L.A.'s top restaurants to come in and perform various cooking demonstrations. It will be lots of fun, and educational too. Check back with us soon for updates on this event and be sure to put yourself on our mailing list.
Every Thursday from 4-8pm rain or shine. Come by and visit on Thursday's and take the opportunity to also stop by the South Pasadena Farmer's Market located in front of our main entrance at the intersection of El Centro and Meridian. The Market is sponsored by the City of South Pasadena, the Mission West Merchants Association, and is managed by the Mission West Association.
